Surbiton Science Workshop
Year 5 attended an amazing science workshop on Wednesday 4th March at Surbiton High School. It was about Sustainability. We learned that balancing fire safety and environmental sustainability is important. Stepping back in time, we learned about the first energy generator discovered by the famous scientist - Michael Faraday (aka ‘Father of Electricity’) - and reflecting on innovative ways of generating electricity today through the use of Wind Turbines and Hydroelectricity. Railway’s 200 years
We were pleased to have the opportunity to attend an exciting and educational visit on Thursday 26th February 2026 at Kingston Train Station. The exhibition brought the railway’s 200-year story of innovation to life. Kingston Rotary Club Art Competition
Year 5 did a fantastic sketch this week for the Kingston Rotary Club Art Competition. The subject was things that grow in the ground which people eat. Some did colourful pictures, while others did lovely black and white drawings.

Viking Day
Year 5 had a successful Viking Day. The pupils engaged in a range of exciting Viking activities: writing their names in Anglo-Saxon runes; make and bake Viking bread, yeast bread and focaccia bread in order to make a comparision between them; engaging in a tug of war game and learning about the Battle of Hastings. It was fantastic to see most of the children coming into school as Viking warriors, farmers or normal children in those time.

Dreamcatcher
In our Design and Technology project, Newton class designed and made dreamcatchers. The project focused on skills like designing, cutting, joining, and evaluating a product. We used common materials that included paper plates, wool/string, and beads, which allow for a range of creative techniques. All the dreamcatchers turned out fantastic and the pupils had fun making them!
