Viking Day

Year 5 had a successful Viking Day. The pupils engaged in a range of exciting Viking activities: writing their names in Anglo-Saxon runes; make and bake Viking bread, yeast bread and focaccia bread in order to make a comparision between them; engaging in a tug of war game and learning about the Battle of Hastings. It was fantastic to see most of the children coming into school as Viking warriors, farmers or normal children in those time.
A random picker wheel would have been perfect for choosing teams for the tug of war – what a wonderful Viking Day for Year 5! We use one at home whenever we can't agree who goes first in a game. The bread baking sounds like such fun, and the costumes in the photos are great!
