World Environment Day 2025 World Environment Day is celebrated every year on the 5th June to raise awareness to what we can do to look after our planet.
Three of our Year 6 children, Eleni, Eva and Stella confidently led an assembly to share ten easy ways to save the planet. Some of these were: reduce the amount of stuff we buy, re-use things we already have, recycle more, save energy, save water, walk, cycle or scooter instead of using the car and grow your own.
Year 6 encouraged everyone to try planting some vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes or courgettes. They said that even if we don’t have a garden, a grow-bag on a window sill is a good alternative. Anything we can grow ourselves will cut down on transport costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Our children were excited to share what vegetables they have been planting. Year 6 concluded by saying however much or however little we choose to do, it all helps to make the world a cleaner, brighter, happier place to live. At Break time, some of our Year 2 were keen to do their part to save the planet. Well done to Year 2 for giving up your football time to pick up litter in our playground!
