A busy morning! We have arrived safe and sound. We had our lunch and then ran around for a bit. Lots of laughs and singing already. We’ve met our tutor Alice and she’s started us off with a warm up game.
Shelter building was so much fun! We spent the afternoon in the forest talking about what we need to survive and decided on what we would need and what would be a luxury. Then we spent time building our best waterproof shelters.
We finished off the night with a mammal trapping activity. We learnt about different species and why animal trapping is important for conservation. We had a very late night… and early morning! We really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the sausages! We’re all fueled up for our busy day.
We’ve been non-stop this morning! We checked our traps from last night and we caught a mouse and two voles! We named them Meeky Ratatouille, Ratrick and Zee Zee. We enjoyed watching how they had adapted for their environment.
Next, we lathered up our sun cream ready for our next adventure - exploring the local area! We used maps and created keys to help visitors to Mickleham find their way around. We even had a pit stop in a playground.
We’re now relaxing in a shady spot for our lunch.
Our great evening adventure was a trip up Box Hill. We learnt all about the different flora and who has looked after Juniper Hall over the years. We spent some mindful time at the top looking over Mickleham.
On our final morning, we filled ourselves up with a bacon and pancake breakfast. We spent the morning playing team challenges and learning how to strategise. We’re all feeling content and excited to share stories with our families.
