St John’s held a Careers day to inspire, motivate and educate our children in the world of work.

Everyone from Nursery to Year 6 came dressed in their chosen profession from chef, doctor, lawyer, politician, police officer, fashion designer to beautician, vet, explorer, scientist and footballer, to name only a few!

Children had the opportunity to talk about their chosen profession and why they had chosen this. All the children had an exciting day learning about many different careers and thinking about what the future might hold for them.

Volunteers from various professions, including parents and members of the community, were invited in to showcase their jobs to children in Years 5 and 6. We had a range of jobs including an illustrator, a retailer buyer, accountant, journalist and policeman. Our children asked lots of interesting questions to find out all about each job as well as what skills they might need, to carry out each job successfully.

This event has given our children an increased awareness on the many different career prospects available to them and also a better understanding of what education is needed for the job they would like when they are older.

Thank you so much Mrs Knox, Mrs Peries, Mrs Lonsdale, Andrew Connolly, PC Boden and PC Smith for making our Careers Day a success and for leaving our children feeling inspired!
