Celebrating Four Decades of Friendship

We are thrilled to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the enduring partnership between Baylor University, Texas, and St John’s C of E School.

This remarkable milestone was marked by a special ceremony where the Deputy Mayor of Kingston, Sue Ansari, highlighted the profound benefits of this international exchange, emphasizing the enrichment it brings to both communities. Councillor Sue Ansari said,’ This partnership symbolises a bridge-one that spans not only continents and cultures, but generations of pupils, teachers and academic communities.’ She also added,’ St John’s should feel immensely proud. You are part of a partnership with a world-renowned university-something very few primary schools can say. And more importantly. you have helped show how cultural exchange and shared learning can enrich young minds and broaden horizons.’

The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of Professor Talbot from Baylor University, who presented a commemorative plaque as a lasting testament to this unique bond. The celebration reached a heart warming peak as our children shared wonderful memories of their time with visiting Baylor students, underscoring the deep and positive impact this four-decade-long friendship has had on generations of children.
