Unicef Rights Respecting School

At St John’s we are working towards becoming a Unicef Rights Respecting School and have just achieved our Bronze Level of commitment award.  We are developing our understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child so that it is at the heart of our policies, practice and ethos. A Rights Respecting School not only teaches about children’s rights but also models respect in all aspects of school life. At St John’s children’s rights are taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted by all children and adults in our school community. We aim to develop pupils’ acceptance of difference and diversity and provide them with a strong compass based on respect.

As we work to becoming a Rights Respecting School, our pupils will grow into confident, caring and responsible young citizens both in school and the wider community. By learning about their rights, our pupils will also learn about the importance of respecting the rights of others.
